Bandmaster John Lam
Bandmaster John Lam, a native of Owen Sound, Ontario, joined the band in 1985 on bass trombone. He was appointed Deputy Bandmaster in 1991 and Bandmaster in 1995. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, in performance and education, John has enjoyed many performance experiences with groups such as The Band of the Ceremonial Guard, Brassroots, Intrada Brass and has also toured with the Canadian production of ‘Les Miserables’. For many years, John was the bass trombonist with the Canadian Staff Band and became CSB Bandmaster in 2008.
A passionate music educator, John has enjoyed his career teaching instrumental music in both elementary and secondary schools for the Thames Valley District School Board. He is currently Head of Performing Arts at Glendale High School in Tillsonburg Ontario. During the summer months he enjoys teaching at numerous Salvation Army music camps across Canada including the National Music Camp at Jackson's Point.
